! where is there still opportunity? you think you expect new york, atlanta and chicago to rise? you think there is still good opportunities there? >> that's right. of those three, new york, chicago, and atlanta those are interesting markets because they're ones that are still seeing home price depreciation in many parts of those markets and are definitely the laggards of the top 30 metro. those are praises where the home market, the housing market is not yet fully recovered. we still have a lot of foreclosures and a lot of negative equity. they will do quite well. they will do okay in 2013. they will do better after that. all three markets. at least chicago and new york are a little more, have more headwinds and they're in, they have a lot of judicial forechrous sure, processes which means there is a long pipeline of foreclosures. that tends to cloud the markets a little bit. melissa: why are you so positive on atlanta? >> well, atlanta i would say has had a very long housing recession. it has been a little bit of a sleeper in terms of hard hit markets. typically we talk about vegas, phoe

, sleet and black ice posing a threat from the mid south to the northeast. jennifer joins us from atlanta. >> you have the rain there, but we're still talking about freezing rain affecting the tennessee valley as well as the lower mississippi valley. the radar is lighting up with rain. you can see the wintry mix. as we zoom in for you, for areas like eastern tennessee as well as into kentucky, you'll be dealing with that wintry mix. we are seeing thing things clearing out to the west and down towards the south, including parts of alabama as well as into georgia, including atlanta. heavy rainfall some of these locations we're talking another one to two inches of rainfall. up to the north, snow is going to be the big story. we're already getting that report for areas like new york as well as into central parts of connecticut as well as into pennsylvania. as we help you time this out for you, for the ice storm warning, it will really come to an end about 6:00 a.m. central time for areas including parts of the lower mississippi valley. and for regions like pittsburgh as well as into parts of
an epidemic. that's the word from the feds today. the centers for disease control and prevention in atlanta is now reporting the flu is widespread across 47 states. one school is using high powered screen clearance to disinfect classrooms or staffers there that it cuts the cleaning time for one room from four hours to just 45 minutes. a district in oklahoma cancelled all classes today. officials say one quarter of all students there are out with the flu. the feds say that the epidemic has killed 20 children, at least across the country. they tell us they don't have a count of how many adults may have died. but the cdc estimates flu kills an average of 24,000 people a year. health experts say it's too soon to predict whether this year will be above average, but it certainly started way early. jonathan serrie is live in atlanta, home to the cdc. any word on an end to this? it sounds like it's getting better down south. >> well, you know, that's the strange thing. although flu is widespread in most states, there are early reports suggesting that flu activity may actually be decreasing in some

. sanjay gupta is in atlanta. what are you expecting to hear? >> elizabeth cohen has been working through the night on getting these numbers. one number, which is important and what we expected. widespread outbreak of the flu. 47 states, up from 41 states with an outbreak of the flu. some good news. the number of states with high levels of activity has gone down from 29 now to 24. two additional deaths in young people, from 18 to 20. but there may be some relief as you say in sight. we are at epidemic threshold. that basically means we are seeing more cases than we expected to see at this time year. big question? will those cases stay elevated or will they start to come down across the country? >> we keep hearing, get a flu shot, get a flu shot. some got our flu shots early. yes, i'm gloating. if you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, is there enough vaccine? >> i think so. i crunched some numbers on this overnight. may be some spot shortages, but general numbers, take aook at how many of these vaccines were specifically manufactured, 135 million, bottom number, 112 million vaccinated. not

in atlanta. so what do the numbers tell us, jonathan? >> reporter: well, jon, the latest numbers suggest this is shaping up to be a bad flu season particularly for the elderly. cdc officials tell fox news hospitalization rates for persons 65 years of age and older increased significantly over the past week, and there were nine pediatric deaths during that same time period, bringing total pediatric deaths, at least the official cdc count to 29. 48 states are now reporting widespread flu activity, up from 47 the previous week. while flu activity continues to decrease in some parts of the south, it continues to increase in other parts of the country, especially out west. based on what they have seen in previous years, cdc officials tell fox that we are probably about halfway through this flu season. jon? jon: and what about the vaccine supplies? >> yeah, although there are still reports of some individual practices, temporarily running out of flu shots, public health officials say there is plenty of vaccine to go around. vaccine manufacturers who originally planned on producing 135 million
